Day 8 Goodbye Jersey, Hello Guernsey
We had breakfast, packed the car and checked out of the hotel and went to fill up with fuel. We paid £1.21 per litre for diesel. Just as well we did as in Guernsey it was £1.49.
We had 3 hours before we needed to check in for the ferry to Guernsey so we left the car at the hotel and walked into St. Helier and saw a couple of places we missed the first time including Royal Square which is really tucked away behind the main pedestrianised street. After a coffee stop we went to the sea front and saw Elizabeth Castle at high tide and sat in the sunshine until it was time to make our way to the ferry.
It is only 1 hour to Guernsey. The ferry arrived and departed about 15 mins early. I spent most of the journey on the top deck where it was very windy but warm. The pain of filling in the Guernsey Tracker was rewarded by a fast and efficient entry into the Bailiwick.
Getting to the north coast, where our hotel is, was very easy but finding the way into the hotel car park was not and resulted in several missed turnings. The hotel is really nice and we have a quiet room looking towards the beach but with a large sand dune obscuring the view.
We took a walk along the beach and found many restaurants and a Fish and Chip shop within a short walk of the hotel so we should not have any problems finding somewhere to eat during the week. There is also an Iceland supermarket which seems to sell Morrisons branded food. Prices are much lower than in Jersey and more like we would find at home.
There was a lovely sunset so we watched it and took some photos.
We ate in the hotel restaurant tonight and both enjoyed our meals.
